Founder Wes Creel said Colleges of Distinction selects its schools based on four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community, and successful outcomes. Overlaid in the last few years has been a look into high-impact practices. This model prioritizes the opportunities institutions have for students that make for a fulfilling, individualized college experience.

鈥淓ach school is different, just as every student is different,鈥 said Creel. 鈥淚t鈥檚 inspiring to see Fisher commit to the learning styles and community involvement that will best allow their students to thrive.鈥

Fisher鈥檚 five Schools鈥擲chool of Arts and Sciences; School of Business; Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education; Wegmans School of Nursing; and Wegmans School of Pharmacy鈥攁ll offer a personalized learning environment for students at every degree level. Each School has earned accreditation by regional, national, or international accrediting bodies, and boast small class sizes taught by faculty members who consistently earn recognition for their teaching excellence and scholarly initiatives.

Further enhancing its commitment to a student-centered learning environment, the College launched the Fisher Edge in 2018, an integrated approach to student success. The Fisher Edge offers opportunities for students to excel academically, get a head start with career exploration, take advantage of internships and other experiential learning opportunities, and achieve on-time degree completion in four years or less.

鈥淪ince our founding in 1948, Fisher has been committed to providing an academic experience that develops intellectual inquiry, professional integrity, and civic responsibility,鈥 said Dr. Gerard J. Rooney, president of the College. 鈥淲e are grateful to be recognized for an academic experience that our students value and that our alumni are proud to have received.鈥
